I'm not sure why would putress join the lich king as his plague severly weakened arthas at the wrathgate

Because there is no other sign of putress who was a major character in the story of wrath of the lich king?

He's dead = end of story?

Not all characters need to have multiple roles in the story, he did what he did at the warthgate and we killed him

Malygos is a major character in WotLK also and hes not in ICC either so what?

if he is dead, bolvar and saurfang wered used by the lich king then its possible this is the new form of putress in the lich kings service. Blizzard also hasn't done much of anything with the dreadlord storyline which putress was connected to.

The story isn't done like malygos's story was. All we did with putress was defeat him in undercity, nothing says he can't return elsewhere like the dreadlords keep doing.

It's not Putress, quit speculating. Bolvar and Saurfang were used because they were LEFT ON THE FIELD OF BATTLE right near the Lich King's central domain. Putress was killed in the Undercity, far away from Arthas' sphere of influence.

Like someone else here said-Putress is dead, and that's how he's staying. He wasn't a "major character", he was little more then a plot device.


*EDIT* Actually, come to think of it, Saurfang Jr.'s sould got yanked by the LK, so that makes sense...Bolvar, however, got melted by Putress' plague, which is supposed to prevent reanimation among other effects. SO how they're bringing him back is beyond me, when all that shoulda been left was a soup, useless mess.

It was Alextrasza who brought him back to life with burning him after the wrathgate (the lavaman model) and idd saurfang's soul was stolen by the frostmourne so it makes sense

Let's not forget that Varian chopped Putress' head off and threw it at Thrall also.

The lich kings sphere of influence is not limited to northrend. It has no limits. He raised arugal from the dead, sent his blood princes into karazhan and other places. The scourge has influence over the plaque lands if to a minor degree. The undercity isn't so powerful that agents of the scourge can't go near it and take a corpse. It also isn't out of the realm of possiblity that arthas would want vengence on putress for the wounds inflicted and would go out of his way to raise him from the dead to exact that revenge and steal his knowledge.

Bolvar wasn't melted by the plague by the way, it was the red dragon flight that would have killed him if anything. Since they torched the entire area killing the plague and giving new life to the area. This can be seen by all the flowers and stuff growing out of the ground where the plague was.
