Due to the large amounts of threads searching for answers about Death Knights, this thread is here to ease the search and help answer some of the answers related to creating a Death Knight. If you have any other questions, post them here and I will add them to the list. If you find any mistakes, post them too to be updated. Thanks!

Q. What races can be a death knight?
A. Every race has the availability of being a death knight.

Q. Who is eligible to create a death knight?
A. Players who have at least one level 55 character on a realm may create a death knight on that realm.

Q. What if I have a level 55 character on one realm but want to create a death knight on another realm to play with friends?
A. At the launch of Wrath of the Lich King, you will only be able to create a death knight on the same realm where you have an existing level 55 or higher character. In the future, we plan to allow the creation of a death knight on any realm (provided you have at least one level 55+ character).

Q. Can I create a death knight on one realm and transfer it to another realm?
A. Yes, you will be able to transfer a death knight, using either a free character move or a paid character transfer. Normal fees still apply.

Q. Can I create a death knight on one account and transfer it to a new account?
A. Death knights can be transferred with the same fees and restrictions as any other character.

Q. If I move a death knight to another realm now, can I get a refund later when the option to create a death knight anywhere is available?

A. We will not be giving refunds to players who have relocated a death knight to another realm prior to the open creation point for all realms.

Q. Can I create a death knight on the opposite faction?

A. You will be able to create a death knight on the opposite faction provided that it is on a PvE realm. The standard restrictions for character creation apply for PvP realms.

Q. Is there a limit on how many death knights I can create?
A. You will only be able to have one death knight per realm at any one time. Should you delete a death knight, you will still be able to create a new one.

Q. Do Death Knights start with any professions?
A. Death Knights come with 270 First Aid.

Q. Do Death Knights start off with any flight paths?

A. Yes, Death Knights have all flight paths in Azeroth. You will need to discover all the other flight paths in Outlands.

Q: What weapons can Death Knights use and what weapon skill level do they start off with?

A: Death Knights can use the following:
1h weapons: Axes, Swords, Maces
2h weapons: Two-handed Axes, Two-handed Swords, Two-handed Maces, Polearms

Skills at the point of creation: Axes, Swords, Two-Handed Axes, Two-Handed Swords, Polearms - all at 270 skill. (NOTE: Even though DK's CAN use 1h/2h maces, those aren't learned and skilled up during creation of the character!)

Q: What energy bars do Death Knights use for spell and ability costs?
A: Death Knights have a Runic Power bar that works in a similar way to a warriors rage bar. They also have six rune icons that individually recharge 10 seconds after being used. They always have 2 unholy, 2 frost and 2 blood runes, and have access to some abilities which will convert normal runes into Death Runes, which can function as any type of rune for one use only. Abilities generally cost either: 1 rune of a particular type, 1 frost and 1 unholy rune, or 1 of each rune. Runic power is generated whenever you use an ability that requires runes, and runic power can be used to cast spells like frost strike and deathcoil. Most abilities have a fixed runic power cost, although some consume your entire runic power bar with the duration of the spell inreasing based on how much runic power you had at the time.

They always have 2 unholy, 2 frost and 2 blood runes, they cannot be changed as was originally planned, although they have access to some abilities which will convert normal runes into Death Runes, which, once recharged, can function as any type of rune for one use only.
